Hippocrates defined it as produced by the different humours of the body, and described four temperaments: Blood, Melancholic, Choleric and Phlegmatic.
It has now been determined that temperament is determined by the nervous system and the endocrine influence.
Although temperament is innate to the person, does not mean that this can not be educated. For example, can educate their angry outbursts that are not so violent, and can educate their depressive crisis.
No temperament is more advantageous than another, all temperaments have their strengths and weaknesses. It depends on how the person manage his temperament so you can take advantage of it.
People do not have a single temperament. Rather it can be said to have a dominant temperament. But there may be mixtures of temperaments in people, for example, phlegmatic-choleric, or melancholic-choleric.
