Tectonic plates are the regions in which is divided Earth's lithosphere.
Earthquakes and volcanism, occur mostly in areas of contact, pushing a plate to go against each other, resulting in tensions which, when released, cause earthquakes.
Lithosphere or crust of the Earth is divided into 28 regions or plates.
