Serendipity
It is to perform discovery by accident or during a different experiment.
Neologism coined by Horace Walpole in 1754 from a traditional Persian story called "The Three Princes of Serendip".
Examples:
Fleming was studying certain types of fungi and inadvertently spilled one crop of these fungi in other bacteria cultivation. He noticed that where mushroom cultivation fell, not thriving bacteria and discovered penicillin.
According to legend, Newton was hit by an apple fell from a tree (apple), and think about why the apple fell, proposed his law of gravity.
