Mirrors of the soul

They say the eyes are mirrors of the soul, in reality, eyes as anatomical entity alone can not express much unless involving the "associated bodies" such as the eyelids, eyebrows (very expressive), related muscles especially rise front to produce these features wrinkles on the forehead, denoting surprise, awe and even fear. Bloodshot eyes can denote anger, or even any ocular dysfunction or irritation of the membranes of the eye as the sclera.
So is the set of similar bodies which contribute most to the different states of facial expression.
